The information is then verified, and once the enrolment process is complete, the Aadhaar card is issued.

Aadhaar Enrolment Center

An Aadhaar enrolment center is a location designated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) where Indian citizens can go to apply for an Aadhaar card. These enrolment centers are typically located in government offices, post offices, banks, or other authorized agencies.

When visiting an Aadhaar enrolment center, citizens will need to provide certain demographic and biometric information, including their name, address, date of birth, and fingerprints. They may also need to provide additional documents to verify their identity and address, such as a passport, voter ID card, or ration card.

The enrolment process typically takes about 10-15 minutes, and once the application is processed and verified, the Aadhaar card will be mailed to the individual’s registered address within a few weeks.

What are the different types of Aadhaar enrollment?

There are mainly two types of Aadhaar enrolment:

1. Standard Aadhaar enrolment:
   This type of enrolment is meant for individuals who do not have an Aadhaar card and are applying for the first time. It involves providing demographic and biometric information such as name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number, and email address, as well as fingerprints and iris scans.
2. Update or Correction of Aadhaar details:
   This type of enrolment is meant for individuals who already have an Aadhaar card but need to update or correct their demographic or biometric information. This may include changes in name, address, date of birth, or other details. The update process can be done online or at an Aadhaar enrolment center by providing the necessary documents and biometric data.

Apart from these two types, there are also other Aadhaar services available such as Aadhaar linking with bank accounts, mobile numbers, and other services, and e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verification, which allows businesses to authenticate their customers using Aadhaar biometric data. However, these services do not involve a separate enrolment process.

Documents required at Aadhaar enrolment center.

When visiting an Aadhaar enrolment center, Indian citizens are required to provide certain documents to verify their identity and address. The following documents are generally accepted:

1. Proof of Identity:
   Any of the following documents can be used as proof of identity – Voter ID Card, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Ration Card, or any other Government-issued identity card.
2. Proof of Address:
   Any of the following documents can be used as proof of address – Voter ID Card, Passport, Driving License, Utility bills (water, electricity, gas, telephone), Bank Statement, Ration Card, or any other Government-issued address proof.
3. Proof of Date of Birth:
   A birth certificate, school leaving certificate, or any other document that shows the applicant’s date of birth can be used as proof.

In addition to these documents, citizens are also required to provide their mobile number and email address, which are used for communication purposes. During the enrolment process, citizens will be required to provide their fingerprints and iris scans, which will be used for biometric verification.

What is the process to update mobile number in Aadhar card?

You can update your mobile number in Aadhaar card by following these steps:

1. Visit the official Aadhaar Self-Service Update Portal (SSUP) at https://uidai.gov.in/ or Aadhar Online Service Portal
2. Enter your Aadhaar number and the security code displayed on the screen. Click on the “Send OTP” button.
3. Enter the One Time Password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number and click on the “Login” button.
4. On the next screen, select the “Update your Mobile Number” option and click on the “Submit” button.
5. Enter your new mobile number and click on the “Submit” button.
6. A message will be displayed on the screen asking you to confirm the new mobile number. Click on the “Proceed” button.
7. A new OTP will be sent to your new mobile number. Enter the OTP and click on the “Submit” button.
8. The system will display a message confirming the successful update of your mobile number in Aadhaar database. You can download a copy of your updated Aadhaar card from the portal.

Alternatively, you can visit an Aadhaar enrolment center and update your mobile number by filling out a correction form and providing the necessary documents for verification. You will also be required to provide your biometric data (fingerprint and iris scan) for authentication.
